From Jason
Something feels off — in your relationship, in yourself, maybe both. You keep it together from the outside, but there’s a voice underneath that sounds a lot like I’m not enough. Maybe your partner has said something needs to change. Maybe you don’t even have words for it yet — just that you feel stuck, irritable, and tired of living in a low hum of anxiety. I work with people who are done white-knuckling through life and ready to actually understand what’s driving it. Together, we’ll work toward something more than coping — toward feeling genuinely calm, confident, and enough.
Client Communities
I work primarily with adults navigating relationship strain, life transitions, and the kind of persistent self-doubt that quietly shapes every decision. Many of my clients come to me because a partner has told them something has to change — and they know, on some level, that the partner is right. They tend to avoid conflict, criticism, and anything that risks exposing how inadequate they feel inside. On the surface, they’re holding it together. Underneath, they’re asking themselves whether they’re enough — for their relationships, their jobs, their own expectations.
I have a particular interest in working with men who haven’t been to therapy before and aren’t sure how to talk about what’s going on. I also work with clients managing ADHD and the way it intersects with self-esteem, relationships, and career. I serve members of the East Asian community, veterans, and first responders, and welcome clients of all backgrounds and identities.
Philosophy
I believe people change through experience, not just insight. Understanding a pattern is useful — but what actually shifts something is having a new experience inside the therapeutic relationship, and then building on it.
Before I became a therapist, I spent years working as an injury adjuster at ICBC and as a court-appointed bailiff — roles that put me in contact with people in some of the most difficult and high-stakes moments of their lives. That background shaped how I work. I don’t need things to be tidy. I know how to meet people in the middle of a mess, without judgment, and help them find their footing.
My clients consistently tell me they feel understood and validated — not managed. I take that seriously. The therapeutic relationship itself is part of the work.
Area of Focus
I offer support for a wide range of concerns, with particular interest in:
- Relationship strain, disconnection, and fear of losing a partner
- Anxiety, anger, and emotional dysregulation
- Low self-worth, people-pleasing, and shame
- ADHD and its impact on relationships, career, and self-image
- Life transitions and feeling stuck
- Trauma, complex PTSD, and dissociation
- Couples and family counselling
- Depression, OCD, and BPD
Therapeutic Approaches
My approach is collaborative from the start. In early sessions, we build a treatment plan together based on your goals — and we revisit it as you grow, because the work that’s most useful often shifts over time. I don’t apply a fixed method to every person; I draw on a range of tools and we figure out what fits.
I believe you are the expert on your own life. My job is to bring perspective, structure, and the right tools at the right time.
Modalities
- EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): processing distressing memories and stuck emotional responses at the level where they actually live — so they stop running the show.
- TIST — Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment: a compassionate, parts-based approach developed by Janina Fisher that builds safety and internal stability without requiring you to revisit trauma before you’re ready.
- DBT — Dialectical Behaviour Therapy: practical, evidence-based skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and building a life worth living.
- CBT — Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: examining the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours to interrupt the patterns that keep you stuck.
- Gottman Method: research-based couples work focused on communication, repair, and rebuilding connection.
- IFS — Internal Family Systems (Informed): getting to know the different parts of yourself — including the ones protecting you, and the ones still carrying old pain.
- CPT — Cognitive Processing Therapy: structured trauma treatment that helps make sense of what happened and loosen the grip it has on how you see yourself and the world.
